Lot 287: A Fine Ruby and Diamond Ring

Set with a rectangular ruby weighing approximately 2.00 carats, flanked on either side by a pair of baguette-cut diamonds, mounted in platinum
With report 1166046340 dated 7 May 2014 from the Gemological Institute of America stating that it is an expert opinion that the geographic origin of this ruby is Burma (Myanmar). Indications of heating with minor residues in fissures. The colour appearance of this stone is described in the trade as "Pigeon's Blood".

- size 5 1/2
- ruby, measuring 9.22 x 5.18 x 3.97 mm, of a medium tone of vivid red, moderately included, very good cut
- diamonds, total approx 0.60ct, of G-H colour, VS clarity
- in very good condition, minor abrasions on the ruby, and minor nicks on some diamonds seen under magnification
