Lot 109: An Antique Ruby and Diamond Ring

Set with a cushion-shaped ruby weighing approximately 2.55 carats, within a conforming frame of old mine-cut diamonds and elaborate acanthus leaf scrolled shoulders, mounted in silver and 18k gold, early 19th century
With report CS 67257 dated 14 April 2015 from the American Gemological Laboratories stating that it is the opinion of the Laboratory that the origin of this material would be classified as Burma (Myanmar). No gemological evidence of heat. Clarity enhancement: none.

- size 5, oval, easily resized larger
- weight 6.90 grams
- ruby, measuring 11.00 x 7.75 x 3.15 mm, of a medium tone of intense pinkish red, lightly included.
- diamonds, total approx 0.80 ct, I-J colour, VS1-SI2 clarity
- in good condition, with regular wear, there are minor abrasions on the facet edges, visible under magnification
