Lot 245: A Ruby, Diamond and Platinum Bracelet, J.E. Caldwell & Co., circa 1935

Hammer Price
$16,000 CAN

Of odeonesque inspiration, composed of an alternating series of tapering arches set with round diamonds and square-cut rubies, mounted in platinum, length 6 3/8 inches, signed JEC & Co and numbered R6515

Weight: 30.1 grams
Diamonds: 28 round diamonds for an approximate total weight of 1.50 carats, F-G colour and VS clarity
Rubies: 28 square rubies, for an approximate total weight of 4.00 carats, of a medium tone of bright pinkish red, lightly to moderately included, very good matching. Is it Dupuis' opinion that the rubies exhibit features consistent with those known to have originated in Myanmar (formerly Burma). There is no detectable evidence of thermal enhancement.
